Overview

Once installed and configured, Qaptly Pilot runs in the background and enables automated test execution on your Android device.

Normal Operation

During Test Execution

When tests are running:
  1. Qaptly Pilot operates in the background
  2. You’ll see test automation actions on your device screen
  3. The app automatically interacts with UI elements as scripted
  4. Test results are transmitted to the Desktop application

Screen Streaming

When streaming is active:
  1. Your device screen is mirrored in the Desktop application
  2. You can interact with the device from the Desktop
  3. All actions are captured for test recording

App Interface

Status Indicators

The app shows:
  • Connection Status: Whether connected to Desktop
  • Test Execution Status: Active/Idle
  • Permission Status: All required permissions granted

Settings

Access app settings for:
  • Connection configuration
  • Performance optimization
  • Debug logging (if needed)

Best Practices

During Testing

  1. Keep device unlocked: Auto-lock can interrupt tests
  2. Disable notifications: Prevent interference with test execution
  3. Close unnecessary apps: Improve performance
  4. Keep device charged: Long test sessions drain battery

Connection Management

  1. Use quality USB cables: Poor cables cause disconnections
  2. Keep USB debugging enabled: Required for continuous operation
  3. Avoid disconnecting during tests: Can cause test failures

Managing the App

Background Operation

  • Qaptly Pilot runs as a background service
  • The app continues to operate even when not visible
  • Check device battery settings to ensure it’s not restricted

Stopping the Service

If you need to stop Qaptly Pilot:
  1. Open the app
  2. Tap Stop Service (if available)
  3. Or force stop from device Settings > Apps

Troubleshooting
