This document explains how to create a new account on the Qaptly platform.

Access Path

  • URL: /auth/signup
  • Legacy path /signup will automatically redirect to /auth/signup

Registration Method

Google OAuth Registration (Primary Method)

Qaptly uses Google OAuth as the primary account creation method to ensure security and convenience. Steps:
  1. Navigate to the registration page (click the “Sign Up” tab)
  2. Click the “Continue with Google” button
  3. In the Google account selection window:
    • Select the Google account you want to use
    • Or click “Use another account” to use a different account
  4. Authorize Qaptly to access your basic information
  5. Complete registration and automatically log in
Automatically Retrieved Data:
  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile picture (if available)

Post-Registration Flow

New User Onboarding

After successful first-time registration, the system will guide you through the following setup:
  1. Welcome Step - Introduction to platform features
  2. Feature Tour - Learn about main features
  3. Group Setup - Create or join an organization
  4. Payment Binding - Set up payment method (optional)
  5. Complete - Start using the platform
New user onboarding is a required process and cannot be skipped. System features can only be used after completion.

Joining an Existing Organization

If you received an organization invitation link:
  1. Click the invitation link
  2. Register/log in with your Google account
  3. The system will automatically add you to that organization
  4. You can start using the system after completing new user onboarding

Account Types

Personal Account

  • Created via Google OAuth
  • Has its own group space
  • Can upgrade subscription plans

Organization Account

  • Created by organization administrator
  • Uses organization-provided account and password
  • Permissions controlled by organization administrator

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I register with Email?

A: Currently only Google OAuth registration is supported to ensure account security.

Q: Is registration free?

A: Registration is free. After registration, there’s a free plan available; advanced features require upgrading to a paid plan.

Q: Can I change the Google account used for registration?

A: The Google account cannot be changed after account creation. It’s recommended to register with a frequently used account.

Q: How are enterprise accounts created?

A: Enterprise accounts are created by team administrators. Regular users cannot create enterprise accounts themselves.

Privacy and Data

When registering, Qaptly will:
  • Retrieve your Google account basic information (Email, name, avatar)
  • Not access your Gmail, Google Drive, or other Google service content
  • You can revoke authorization at any time in your Google account settings
