This guide walks you through installing Qaptly on your system.

Download

macOS

  1. Download the latest .dmg file from the official distribution
  2. Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to mount it
  3. Drag Qaptly to your Applications folder

Auto-Update (macOS only)

Qaptly includes an auto-update feature that will notify you when new versions are available. Updates are downloaded and installed automatically.

Microsoft Windows

  1. Download the latest portable executable .exe file from the official distribution
  2. Double-click the downloaded .dmg file to mount it
  3. Drag Qaptly to your Applications folder

First Launch

macOS Security

On first launch, macOS may display a security warning:
  1. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security
  2. Find the message about Qaptly being blocked
  3. Click Open Anyway

Required Permissions

Qaptly requires the following permissions:
  • Microphone Access: For voice recording in AI analysis sessions
  • Accessibility: For macOS desktop automation features
Grant these permissions when prompted, or configure them manually in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Configuration Files

Qaptly stores configuration in the following locations:

Environment Configuration

  • Development environment: .env.development
  • Production environment: .env.production
  • Local overrides: .env.local
